John Patrick Hopkins was a businessman and served as mayor of Chicago, Illinois (1893-1895) for the Democratic Party. He was elected in a special election following the assasination of Mayor Carter Henry Harrison, Sr. He was the first of nine Irish-American Caholic mayors of Chicago.
